Principal's Message

Hello and welcome,

I am Andy Ball and the 2017-18 school year will be my seventh year at Clifton Middle School and sixth as the Principal. I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to be the Principal of such a wonderful school. I thoroughly enjoy working with middle school students and am proud to be able to do so.

Our children are special gifts with limitless potential and Clifton Middle School is a great place for them to begin striving towards reaching that potential. Here, students at each grade level can qualify for Advanced Academic classes in Math and Science and 8th grade students can earn high school credit in Ag, Algebra I, Jazz Band and Spanish. Each of our students is issued a Dell Chrome Book to use daily while at school and we have a Makerspace room, Creativity Central, that is open before and after school and at lunch for students that want to experiment with building robots or other projects. Our students compete in UIL Academics and One-Act Play (2016 District Champions in both) in December, as well as athletic and band competitions throughout the school year.

It is the focus and goal of our faculty and staff to support our students, both academically and socially, while helping them develop their own unique skills and talents, along with preparing them for continued success beyond their adolescent years. We encourage our students to set high expectations for themselves and we will work with them to help them reach, and even exceed, those expectations. Through the efforts of our entire school community, including students, parents, guardians, teachers and staff members, each of our students will have the opportunity to enjoy a successful, meaningful, fun and educational experience at Clifton Middle School.

Middle school is a very rewarding, exciting and challenging time, as well as an important transitional time in the lives of students as they build the bridge from elementary to high school. Middle school age students usually begin to actively seek a sense of purpose and place as they work through many adolescent changes.

If you are the parent or guardian of a middle school student, I ask that you please take the time to:

• Talk with your child about their school day. Ask them specific questions about their time at school. For example, “What was the most interesting thing you did in math class today?” or “Tell me about your science experiment?”

• Review your child’s grades and attendance on the Parent Portal. The Portal will give you relevant information regarding your child’s performance on their homework, a test or quiz as well as their attendance. Your interest and concern in their school progress will motivate them to do their best.

• Maintain contact with your child’s teachers and staff members to establish a successful home/school connection. All of our teachers have classroom websites with their contact information, homework assignments and useful resources.

On behalf of the faculty and staff at Clifton Middle School, thank you for visiting our website. I sincerely hope you will find the information useful.
